Stories from the Vanpool

Riding to work with 7 other people every day takes some getting used to. For the most part, we keep to ourselves, trying to maintain a pleasant, low stress environment. Over time however, personalities emerge. So for your entertainment value, I present this story from the vanpool.

"Hello?"

"Hey man I have a question to ask you. I hate to even have to bring this up as it is childish in nature, but did you notice a smell on the van this morning?"

"Not really, why."

"There were some complaints about a passenger possibly having some flatulence issues."

"Well I was sitting all the way in the back of the van, so I didn't notice anything."

"The reason I ask is because this happened yesterday as well, when you didn't ride the van, and we are discussing voting this person off of the vanpool. We are wondering if you would feel comfortable with that."

I knew the person he was referring to. We will call him Bob. I wasn't ready to throw the book at Bob just yet, but I didn't really think people could be voted off like Survivor anyway.

The next morning on the van as we approached the front gate at Fort Knox the woman in the passenger seat abruptly turns down the radio. "Something smells like garlic or fish, and it is not pleasant!"

"Garlic or fish? Not me." Says Bob.

The music went back up and we arrived at our destination shortly after.

That was the last day Bob rode the van.
